Iranian ‘Block’ wins Russian award

Iranian short ‘Block’ has received an award at the 2nd edition of Moscow Shorts Int’l Short Film Festival in Russia.

Directed by Mostafa Rabbani, the Iranian title grabbed February edition’s Best Director award at the Russian event.

The short film depicts the story of two teenagers who are entangled in a critical situation.

Rabbani has previously made a number of short films, including ‘You Can Turn Ahead’, ‘Special Screening’, ‘136’, and ‘Count your Steps’.

The other representatives of Iran at this edition of the Moscow Shorts were ‘Umbra’ by Saeed Jafarian, ‘Shahrivar’ by Samira Norouz-Nasseri, ‘Blue Sky, Clean Earth’ by Mahyar Mandegar, ‘Lady’ by Nafiseh Zare, and ‘Athens’ by Hossein Shaeri.

The Moscow Shorts is an international short film competition, with monthly live screenings and annual awards.

According to the event's website, the event is dedicated to promoting the short film genre, bringing exposure to the world’s best independent up-and-coming filmmakers.
